Last month, IBM held the first annual Smarter Commerce Global Summit in San Diego which was designed to help business and IT leaders chart the path to Smarter Commerce in a rapidly changing social and digital commerce landscape. The Summit provided attendees with insights and approaches on how to connect and accelerate the entire commerce lifecycle of Buy, Market, Sell and Service processes – placing the customer at the center of decisions and actions.
At the event, IBM announced the first-ever Smarter Commerce awards, recognizing clients who are achieving their Smarter Commerce goals and pushing ahead of the competition in today’s increasingly buyer-driven, digital marketplace. The winners were:
Advance Auto Parts, a leading automotive aftermarket retailer of parts, accessories and maintenance items, won the “Innovation Leadership” award for “Redefining commerce in the age of the customer.” The company has opened a Web store and personalized promotions using IBM software to improve customer service in its B2B channel and to provide a more personalized service in its B2C channel.
True Value, one of the world’s largest retailer-owned hardware cooperatives, won the “Buy” award for “Intelligent and optimized supply chains based on demand.” True Value is proactively resolving supply chain exceptions before they affect customer service levels. This is critical for a company processing over 600 million pounds of freight annually.
PETCO, a leading pet specialty retailer, won the “Market” award for “Personalized and relevant offers with unified cross- channel marketing.” PETCO tapped an IBM solution that allowed it to segment customers based on rich behavioral data. The information is then syndicated to an ad targeting network which serves up highly relevant display ads to PETCO.COM visitors as they browse other internet sites.
T-Mobile USA, a national provider of wireless, voice messaging, and data services won the “Sell” award for enabling “Customers and partners buy what they want, when and where they want.” T-Mobile modernized their e-commerce website and the Telesales order management application to provide their clients and sales representatives with a seamless cross-channel buying experience.
Barclays Bank, a major global financial services provider, won the “Service” award for “Anticipating behavior and delivering flawless customer service.” Barclays Bank is using IBM solutions to create a single gateway for all traffic throughout the bank in order to better track the receipt and delivery of messages and transactions.
In addition to the awards, IBM highlighted Smarter Commerce momentum with business partners, product and services news.
More than 300 IBM Business Partners attended a full day Smarter Commerce Business Partner Summit. The company highlighted its fast-growing business partner initiative with the following announcement IBM Expands Business Partner Initiative with New Cloud Channel Offering.
Product and services news at the Summit centered on Smarter Commerce on Cloud, integrated offerings, new IBM Business Value Accelerators and client wins that highlight how IBM is helping businesses respond in real time to shifting customer preferences as IBM continues to enhance its capabilities.
